In December 2007, the U.S. economy plunged into what would become the worst recession since the Great Depression, a historic downturn that later came to be known as the Great Recession. To illustrate the severity of that downturn EPI created Economy Track, a series of graphs on jobs and unemployment and overall economic performance, complete with tools that allow comparisons to past recessions. The data on Economy Track runs through December 2010, the third anniversary of the start of the Great Recession, and is a useful tool for exploring both the impact of the downturn and the slow pace of recovery.
